Howdy friends!

The Road to 2.0 begins with a big ol' content update on Wednesday the 14th, which is just a few days from now. We're going to start you off with a classic Armello addition with a twist, new cards.

This time around, we're giving the Trickery Deck a little bit of love with two new cards that feature a new card mechanic in Armello, the Merchant system.



After either of these cards are played a sign will appear on the targeted settlement, indicating that a Merchant will become active on the following turn. When the Merchant arrives, every player that enters the settlement during that turn is able to gain the benefits of the card.





Roxy has you covered for Followers, and Biff has all the Treasures you need. Naturally, these cards benefits all players that manage to visit the targeted settlement - so take advantage of ill-positioned opponents, defend this valuable settlement or even terrorize it to dismiss the merchant early.

Ooh boy.  These look pretty cool.  I wonder what other uses the merchant keyword exist.  Hmmmm......

 Wow what a great idea!! I love this new interaction system of "Merchants".

For me personally, the Settlements are the most fascinating part of Armello. With all of these updates that have been released, or are incoming, Settlements have become alive, organic, and can even grow now! Think about it this way:

Settlement = No upgrades.
Town = Palisade Walls.
City = Palisade Walls, Patronage & Industry.
Capitol = Palisade Walls, Patronage & Industry, Spirit Wards.

You can take this concept even further if you think about adding something like "Mercenaries" or "Sharpshooter" to protect your property. Going even more in depth, you can add "Cursed Lands" and "Agent of Misfortune" to fortify your land (can even hope the King sends a King's Guard to protect it as well!). NOW you have the added option to further benefit from territory with "Merchants".

Having options to grow and cultivate tiles makes Armello jump right off the board and come alive. With all these cards and additions like "Arson" and "Spirit Seeds" and the animation changes to the palace, Armello starts to feel more like a live, open world, RPG. It's so cool how it has been transformed, and all credit to LoG.
