It's actually just called Digger but the full name of the main character (a female wombat) is Digger of Unnecessarily Convoluted Tunnels, at least I think it is.

Anyway has anyone read this?!!! If no one has... omg it's one of the most inspiring comics I have ever read and the animal lore in it is so great- one of the reasons I love Hyenas so much too! The main character is great especially the way she counterbalances the crazy world around here- just very very well written, and powerful too.

Just going to go ahead and link it right away here: http://diggercomic.com/blog/2007/02/01/wombat1-gnorf/
Not sure I'll find any fans but if you have read it- how amazing is it?!!

I've never heard of this one, but it looks really interesting. It's like a mish-mash of several cultural stories, some religious philosophy, and a lot of clever writing against some dark, ink-heavy artwork. Might have to browse through this at some point! If nothing else I love a good animal story.

Fun fact: the artist for this series is also the creator of the "LOL WUT" pear. You know, that one. Before it became a meme.

Oh man, Digger is wonderful! I remember reading that a few years back but I lost track of it because of school - I need to read that again. The characters are smart and so is the writing, and it has beautiful art and paneling!

Man, I love Digger. The fact that it's one of the few webcomics with an ending is pretty amazing - as gutwrenching as it can be to see a story you love come to an end, it's better than to see it spun out overly long when it had a good place to stop and rest.

The gnoll tribes in that though... I absolutely love the granny gnoll!

I've talked to Ursula Vernon on Twitter and she's super cool as well as being an awesome human. Honestly one of the great scifi/spec fic writers of our time. : )

I did know she drew the LOLwut pear as well yes, small world isn't it? xD

The Gnoll/Hyena Tribe are the best, so so so so so so good. I love Hyenas and they're one of the reasons why they're just so perfectly amazing and flawed but great xD

I loved that webcomic! Ed was the best, but all the characters were well written and the story was fantastic! I've really must to reread it sometime.

On the topic of web comics, Freefall is another in a similar vein, albeit in a Sci Fi setting and a little more light-hearted. I really enjoy this one too as it so often has something thought provoking to say. Any other fans of it here?

Digger is one of the best pieces of fantasy I have seen in a decade.

Digger was/is one of the best web comics ever.  I feel this way so much, that I bought a physical copy in omnibus form, so that no matter what, I will always have access to it.  Ursula Vernon was kind enough to sign it for me as well.

Oh wow... yeah, I love Digger! A friend turned me on to the series some time ago, but I never got very far along in the story until I found out they were selling printed collections. I believe the Author put out a complete omnibus, at some point. Ironically, it was a month or two after I finished reading the last volume of the collections.

If you like Digger, I might also suggest Mouse Guard. It's almost analogous to Redwall, which this is also a short graphic series on!
