Duh, i changed my sounddriver settings from 5.1 to 2 also, but i used the output while i should have used the input. So, setting the systeminputs to 2.0 also solves this soundbug for me. Anything over 2.0 causes extrem crackling.
I also noticed how many sounds are all over the place, some are almost unhearable quiet, but others like the woodcracking sound when the drawphase starts are overamplified loud. I wish they would have tested that new soundsystem before the release of 1.0.

I also have an issue with the in-game sound on my Windows 7 PC, but I'm not sure if it's related to the problems listed in this thread. My audio is perfectly normal most of the time; I get no unusual sounds or variation in volume. The problem is, sometimes while playing Armello all sound on my computer just stops. It's like my speakers are permanently muted, and nothing, including the desktop volume slider, will produce any sound regardless of what I mess with. Changing the sound settings in Armello or elsewhere does not help. Sometimes I can play Armello for hours without incident, and sometimes this occurs within the first 15 minutes of play - very frustrating if I'm in the middle of a multiplayer match.

One thing to note, I play with the in-game music muted because I often listen to music on a mobile device while I play.

Edit: Shutting down Armello restores sound to the rest of my programs.

Update: The problem seems to be related to using the Alt-Tab function to minimize Armello. I'll have to test it with some Single Player games.

Ok. So it isn't just me that's experiencing this.

So I connected the computer to the TV via HDMI and am now listening to the audio from the TV without any crackling...

The sound problem is related to your sound driver configuration. To solve the issue a workaround is to downgrade to stereo your sound system.

For information, I just tested the new version 1.0.2 and the problem is still present.

Yes, me too, and some others small glitches, but they are far less anoying than the crackles orchestra when I set my sound driver in 5.1.

Yeah, thats the only sound i noticed that is bugged with 2.0 setup.
I noticed there was a Hotfix for other bugs release today, but unfortunately not a  sound fix.

I have been on Stereo from the get go.
I don't have the crackling when I first launch a session of Armello. If I win/lose a game and start a new game, then the new game will have the crackling.

Just wanted to update from my previous post. It seems there's no connection between the bug I'm experiencing and minimizing the game. I just randomly lose my sound after an indeterminate amount of time, and have to restart the program to fix it.

Hey guys,

I've created a sticky thread over here to get as much info as possible from you all to try and pinpoint a common thread between these audio glitches.
