AI Card Drawing - Lets Speed it up
« on: May 23, 2015, 08:10:32 PM »
Hi All,

Was playing tonight and was contemplating ways to speed up the AI's turn. There was a thread about this over on the steam forum. The best idea over there was have a hot key that when held down the whole game went into Fast forward mode, release the key and it goes back to normal.

However as I playing just then I thought another way to help things move a long quicker is on AI Card draws. When someones Wits get high and they have 5+ cards to pick before they even start moving it can take awhile, with about 1 second per animation, that adds up over the course of the game.

So why not instead just have 1 animation that shows all 3 card types with a number above to show how many cards they pulled from that deck. You could even have a cross through it if they didn't draw any just to make it clearer, or not have a symbol for that deck appear at all.
So no matter how many cards they draw it only takes 1 animation and thus one second.

Thoughts?

Yes.

We're planning to tighten the game (card drawing, character movement etc) - you'll find all card drawing and timings will improve and become snappy. :)
