In case you need a room for starting up an online P&P game I really recommend you join Roll 20. It gives you all the comforts of a table, characters, abilities and such, along with dice and chat. My RP group uses it for our weekly RP sessions.  best of all, it is not specific to any game so you can play any type (Shadow Run, Iron Claw, D&D), as long as you have a willing GM.

TV Tropes does a decent job explaining the world of Ironclaw a bit, and some of the tropes used, so felt it worth sharing.

I did most of the edits on that article from the last few months.

And actually I heard about Armello from my Ironclaw group, we meet on Skype and Roll20 every Monday night or so.

A lot.  Mostly webcomics, some e-books.  And launched quite a few tropes.

I don't know, the most recent trope I launched was 10,000 Years, and the more recent work page was for an e-book series called The Red Vixen Adventures (not porn, but still not family-friendly).

Also, note that I didn't create the Ironclaw page, I just started adding tropes a few months ago after it had seemingly been abandoned for some time.  Not coincidentally that was about the same time I bought the rulebook.  It's a compulsion.

Thanks for doing that! I had noticed it increased dramatically since the last time I had checked it (many many months before~)

I ran a game online for about a year, and we did quite a bit, and my players generally really enjoyed it. ^^

Yeah, I remember that game!

Thanks for killing me, btw :C

I like ironclaw myself, the big reason being character creation and development. It's NOT a class-based game like, say, D&D is where your character just revolves around their class. In this, you could start off as a mercenary and decide you want to be a very social character, with no real penalty. You have your careers, but they don't limit you in any way with how you want to build.

And then there is the heavy social aspect of the game. You're not playing, as my friend likes to put it, "murder-hobos" like in D&D. Characters just feel more... developed and a part of the world, as opposed to standing apart from everything. It's really great immersion.

And I agree with Lucas on Flight. It looks VERY complicated, but it's a lot simpler than you think. Basically, every turn you need to exhaust the gift (but it's an extra action, so not a big deal.) The refresh will hurt ya at first, because it'll take an action, but that's why you gotta build to fly and fight together.

As for combat... yeah, it can take long... but that depends. More experienced players will already know what they want to do each turn, and when they do it's pretty simple. I've seen characters do their turn in seconds.

I've felt Ironclaw really brings a strong ROLEplay environment as opposed to a ROLLplay one, and that's why I liked it. Looking forward to that new Book of Adventures they got coming out.

I presume you're the same Ferret I'm running The Rescue of Miranda Devoisier for on Skype and Roll20?

The one and only.

And look, both my new GM and old GM are here. I guess I must be on my best behaviour! :O

As for Armello and Ironclaw combined... you'd probably have to wipe the magic and start it over, but yeah it could work by the looks of things.

Conversely, I believe it shouldn't be too difficult to mod Armello for the Ironclaw setting.

Though Crusader Kings II might suit the tone of feudal Calebria better.
