The hard counter that I've been a victim to when building a tank is Hoodwinked.  It can take a few turns to recover and late game that can be a killer.

I think that is your answer.  Getting the stones from a circle is the easy, guaranteed way to get them.  If I can corrupt you then you've got a harder path.

It does seem very situational to me.

Piercing weapons give Thane's ability to everyone?  Or just directly bypass a single shield?

It would be interesting to have a weapon that gave you +1 sword/shield if your opponent had a higher rot value than you.

I forget the name of the card, but I just had the AI play the one that changes all of my cards to Rot symbols... and then attack me.  I was already corrupted so this gave me +1 die from the Rot battle, and now I could dump all of my cards too.

I just found this project and immediately thought of Armello.  Some of the models like the Lion look like a great fit.

1 rot for 1 stone might be right since it could be done anywhere, not just at the druid stones.

I could even see selling them if at a settlement for random amount (1-3 gold).

That made me think of an interesting concept.  Maybe someone got to this earlier and I missed it.

During your turn spend an AP, consume a Spirit Stone, cleanse yourself or Hero within 1 tile of 1 rot.  Gives you something to do with them if not going for Stoner victory yet come across one.

I understand how to fight a Peril, as described in the guide.

I may be wrong, but playing a Peril has two possibilities.  If unoccupied, the tile will gain the Peril and it acts like the King's starting ones.  But if played on a tile containing a hero, the Peril triggers right away.  Very useful during an opponent's turn to mess withthem or if they move into range.
