Feedback & Suggestions / King Skins?

Has anyone thought of this yet? The idea just occurred to me. Might be pretty cool as a store item. Any ideas for king skin variants?

Feedback & Suggestions / Idea: Main Menu Background Unlocks?
« on: June 28, 2018, 02:21:45 AM »
Hey all! Long time since I've logged in, but this idea just hit me and I had to share it before I forgot!

What if - as a reward for winning the game with different characters and victories - you unlock artwork for the main menu? For example: if you win as Thane with a Rot victory, maybe a background styled like the one on the main menu, but with Thane on the Throne, infected with Rot. If you win as Thane with a Spirit Stone victory, you'd unlock a background depicting Thane surrounded by Spirit Stones while on the throne, etc.

Though, now that I type it out, if that were to happen, since there are twenty characters, with four possible victories, that would be a whopping 80 backgrounds to design! I suppose copy/pasting assets in Photoshop and then just altering details (adding Rot vines, spirit stones, etc) would be a workaround, but - then again - it's still extra work.

Maybe just one background per character? Hey! Better idea: if you complete all four victory types with a single character, you unlock a main menu background with that character on the throne, and each background would obviously reflect the characters' respective personalities!

Eh, maybe it's not feasible, but I definitely wanted to throw it out there as an idea.

Either way, I might do this in my spare time just for fun.

I could comment on how mind-numbingly hideous this is, but I think everyone else has done that well enough, so I'll just add that the tiki staff is a very nice touch.

Hey, thank you so much! And yeah, I didn't quite realize that until AFTER I'd finished the. Whole thing - the wolf grounds should have much more mountains. I plan on doing a closeup of the four clan areas, though, so that will DEFINITELY be corrected , lol

I will keep that in mind!

The War Room / Re: Times Armello Has Made You... Cheer!?!?
« on: March 25, 2017, 04:25:07 AM »
Alright, I've gotta write this down FAST, before I forget. But HOLY cow was this a close one!

Okay, so I'm Elyssia.

I'm planning on a prestige victory.

The game starts off, I'm up against Zosha, Magna, and River. Okay, no biggie. Zosha's the only other one with a prestige amulet, so I'm wary, but not scared.

Game's going fine. We're questing, doing things as usual...

During the opening, I stumble across a spirit stone in a dungeon, and one spawns on me at night, when I'm in a stone circle. Eh, not really great, considering the victory I'm going for, but whatever. I'll take it.

*SUDDENLY*, Magna and River play allies pact to EACHOTHER, along with a merchant's agreement. This is the mid-point of the game.

I go on a rampage as best as I can, playing trickery and spell cards to them in hopes of killing them and ending their pacts - NO such luck. Meanwhile, Zosha's just racking up prestige right and left. Zosha has 11, I have 9, River has 15, and Magna has 22! Yeah, TWENTY-TWO prestige.

So, at this point, I realize that my "prestige" victory is well and thoroughly out the window. I've been snatching and fortifying towns right and left to help finance my cards, but they are dominating, and getting worse! (or, better, I suppose, lol)

Then it occurred to me that I have two spirit stones... and a third one's right next to me. I grab it without a second thought, and cross my fingers that next evening's stone is in an accessible place.

Surprise, surprise! It's just out of my reach. I beeline for it, but am not able to reach it. It becomes morning. The king is now at one health - this is it. If I *don't* get a spirit stone AND make it to the palace, AND avoid banishment by other players, it's all over!

The way to get the stone puts me at a disadvantage, though. I dont' have enough AP! If I grab the stone, I'll be stuck outside the castle gates! Even if I get in at nighttime, it's over - whoever has the most prestige has won!

My turn rolls around, and I go through the trickery deck, basically resigned to my defeat at this point...

I draw strategist.

I had to do a double-take on that: I DREW A STRATEGIST CARD!

My heart's pounding. I grab the spirit stone, barely make it INTO the palace gardens (thank Wyld I had a key given to me!), and  spend all my other cards all around the map, fingers crossed that I live to my next turn. Did I mention I'm the fourth player? No? Well, there ya go. I'm the fourth player, so now I have to sit there and wait while all three of the others scramble to kill and/or banish me!

Zosha and Magna stumble into eachother. There's a scuffle. They both die. Neither can reach me now. The only contender left is... River. Who is literally three spaces from me! The only thing between us is a dungeon with a peril on it.

She heads to the dungeon, burns her cards, rolls her dice... AND FAILS THE PERIL.

A bane pops up and attacks her, and - though she emerges unscathed - her AP is sapped. She takes a moment, I assume to look at her cards and see if there's *ANYTHING* that can be used to stop me.

There isn't.

Suddenly it's my turn, and the other three are congratulating me on a game well played! I banish the king with my last-minute spirit stones, and emerge from a victory that I didn't think possible literally five minutes before.

So, yes, this was one of the absolute best Armello games I've ever played. And man oh man did my opponents do well! Seriously, if it weren't for that spirit stone spawn AAAND the lucky "Strategist" draw, I would have predictably lost. They seriously played WONDERFULLY.

But that makes the unexpected victory so much sweeter!

EDIT: Also... HOLY COW, dragoncrescent! :O

I can't imagine having to travel to another city to buy a latte. I live in one of those cities with the stereotypical "Starbucks on every corner"... although there are smaller Mom n' Pop cafes around too. One of them makes an incredibly good chai latte - not actually coffee but still awesome.  It is possible to make lattes at home with some extra effort though.
Ah, well, to be fair, it's not that I CAN'T order a latte in my hometown; it's more a combination of several factors:
(A) I'm hopelessly addicted to instant coffee's convenience, in spite of its low quality,
(B) so I won't bother buying coffee anywhere that I could just whip up one at home and take with me,
(C) and this coffee place (Ecclesia, in Wichita, KS, USA) is just THAT incredible to my taste buds. It's fortunate I only pass by it once in a while, or else I'd be broke.

If you didn't know, Australia is huge on their coffee. To put it in perspective (for primarily the Americans), you can't just order a "coffee", a plain coffee doesn't exist here. You need to order a latte, a flat white, a long black or whatever you want, unless specified it's all espresso based coffee. Also, flavoured coffee is considered a bit of a cop out here.

Anyway, I got sidetracked with an Australia lesson. A double shot latte is my go-to order.

Ohh yeah! Latte - *THAT* is another I like a lot. A coffee shop opened a few cities away from me, and I should be very grateful that it's only something I encounter once in a long while. Otherwise my wallet would be gone. Their lattes are fantastic cups of pure amazing.

Hey, yeah! I remember seeing another post about that. Forgot to comment on it, I think. I might try that sometime.

Huh. I hadn't thought of that before... but it DOES make some sense!

This is incredibly helpful! But now I'm very curious as to the accuracy of these notes, given the time gap between this update and the last . Has any new info come out that contradicts the old information? I'd love to see this project continued and/or revamped, if only as a helpful guide to fanfic writers.

Which brings me to my other question: do you want me to link to this in my fanfics? I mean, on one hand, the quick read could help a lot, and artistic credit is due for this. On the other, I can understand not wanting attention drawn to a project that could be considered "outdated" (again, only assuming that this info is currently contradicted by old information - it could be that the "canon" presented here is perfectly fine).

I, too, own a Keurig machine. But we have one of those dummy cups that you can put your own coffee in. I grind my beans fresh almost every morning. I find that freshly ground coffee has sooo much more flavor and jolt to it! Instant coffee is an abomination, and proof that mankind has gone too far! :D
Then count me in as a blasphemous instant coffee addict! Although, to be fair, I *DO* sometimes pour coffee grounds into a dummy cup whenever I can be bothered.

Also, WITHOUT A DOUBT, instant coffee is but a cheap shadow of the real deal. I'd honestly take fresh coffee any day as opposed to instant coffee, if it weren't for the "convenience" factor of it. I suppose it's a choice between what one values more in their daily routine; time or quality.

Coffee! The only reason I wake up and crawl out of bed, some mornings! XD
Hallelujah and amen.

Since I am a surgeon, coffee is my fuel. It needs to be black (that's the stuff that is available anywhere in a hospital), hot (that's not always the state the stuff is in) and has to contain caffeine.

If there is a bigger abomination than instant coffee it is the decaffeinated one.
I can relate. Kinda. My dad travels around to various hospitals and does instrument repair on-site. I've gone with him on a few of his runs, out of boredom, and BOY do we wind up going through coffee! Always had to sprinkle a tiny bit of  ice in , though, because I'm a baby like that and can't stand coffee unless it's warm, not hot.

Really? Well, sweet! I'll have to keep my eyes out for that, then!

Various places, really. Some of them come from the prototype for the audio-book that was made available during the Kickstarter. Some of it comes from all the little details in the card text, quest logs and so on. Some of it also comes from the devs themselves answering questions on Twitch.
We should put all that lore we found was canon somewhere.  ???
Yeah! Like a wiki or something! Lol
I suppose I should just be patient and wait for those things to be assembled there. Or maybe compiled into a "lore bible" of sorts (using the wiki as a source, along with ITS sources), which I think would help fanfic writers tremendously!

Heyo. Maybe this isn't the right place to ask, but I'm afraid to start a new thread, and it looks like an appropriate place to pose the question;

Where is all the Armello Lore coming from besides the game? I've been meaning to ask for a while now, mostly because of fanfic writing and not wanting to royally screw up the canon  of things. What sources do you guys pull from for "canon" things, such as hero character personalities and the like?

I understand that some of that detail can come from the blurbs in game, but I've encountered a few bits of info labeled as "canonical " that I've not encountered in-game.

Granted, I'm NOT saying the Wiki is unreliable! I'm just curious about the sources so I can do my homework and not write an absolutely n00bish fanfic. 'Twould be embarrassing. I suppose I could always just do my best and change things as people point them out, but Id rather avoid the trouble altogether by using these forums, the wiki, and whatever magical artifact you're using to get such knowledge.
