Hey all,

Welcome to another addition of the v1.7 Wyld's Ward feature reveals. Here, we'll be looking at the two new House Rules that are incoming. These are impactful, rules that will force you to completely alter your strategies within Armello.

Dead Player's Paw
When killed, your hand of cards is discarded.

Looking for an option that damns card hoarding? This one might interest you. Dead Player's Paw will force you to consider whether it is worth the risk to wait and use a card at it's optimal time, or strive to gain value from it immediately. We're a big fan of this one in the studio.

Palace Peril Difficulty

This one has been suggested by the community since the origin of the House Rules feature and now it's here. What happens when The King's defences are down? Can you fight and kill him without pursuing your quest line? If you fail, will you leave him vulnerable to be killed by another player?

On the other side of the coin, do you want to fortify The King's Castle and force your friends into a quest race or a game of prestige. It's your choice.

Let us know what you think of these rules in the comments! Also, as an interesting experiment, how do you think these House Rules would fare in Armello's core ruleset?

Cheers,

<3 Darcy & the LoG Squad

Neat stuff!
I remember fans wanting a peril-less palace at one point as a house rule.
Thanks for delivering yet again!
It's 5am and yall kept me up with all this hype.

Here's a vote for adding Dead Player's Paw to the core ruleset.   :)

*votes against the Dead Man's Paw rule*
This rule as a part of the core set would annihilate Barnaby, whose 'cool thing' is to have a modular arsenal. It also unduly punished any character in the game who has a low Fight or Body score, or even just rolls terribly. The RNG can be brutal, and the last thing we need is to wreak havoc in one of the few areas the player has some ability to plan and control.

Having you hand emptied on death can be a blessing; maybe it should be the player's choice after each death (since their turn isn't active (or was just ended) it wouldn't slow the game.

I can see the allure of throwing a hand that's been gunked up with bad cards. But at the same time, I usually have SOMETHING in-hand I'm saving up for.  Working to accumulate the perfect cards to breach the Palace also seems pointless when something like an errant Spirit Strike or a critical steak from a Bane/Guard can ruin it all.

Death comes quick and suddenly in Armello, and losing a good hand on a whim isn't nearly enough to compensate being able to throw a bad one.

Can't say I'm fond of Dead Player's Paw either...  Unless these are in the optional rules settings?
