Everyone I know recently has told me I should get into voice-acting, but I have no demo reel or professional experience. :(

We all have to start somewhere.  Ask around to see if you can get access to a decent recording setup and put something together.  Grab magazine articles, copy car commercials from TV, narrate some Armello fan fiction (there's some great stuff around here).  Mimic known character types and do some of your own.

Sometimes directors want someone who can sound just like Morgan Freeman (or whomever) or they want something completely unique. Being able to do a variety of the known and the original is good. Just remember that your demo reels are never set in stone. For as long as you perform, you will always be improving (or should be) so updating your reels will happen from time to time.

And yes, you'll have more than one.  One for commercials, one for audiobooks, one for characters, etc.

I keep forgetting that I've been meaning to update my reels. I should do that this weekend since I'm not going on the annual camping trip. *sniffle*

Question; is the voice acting mostly going be grunts, yells, screams, dying sounds, or will the characters be "Narrating" their quest texts/The chat messages?

If you listen closely, you can hear some of the lines I've done so far for Brun. "Feel the Ancients' wrath", "The Wyld feeds my fury", etc.  There are some grunts and combat stuff as well, of course.

I'm going to see if I can get a friend of mine to audition for this as well.  I think she'd be a lovely addition to the cast.

Some of my friends pointed me this way... a bit late I might add...
What an awesome chance to use vocal talents from all over the world to enter into a game that not only looks awesome, but will then sound awesome too!

Going to do my best to submit my stuff before the end of the deadline.
Life is hectic at the moment, but being able to be part of something this unique is a chance of a lifetime.

As an ex-game developer for The Chronicles of Spellborn I know what goes on behind the scenes and I've worked with Trendane last year on a project with voiceacting too and that was a total blast.

I hope I can get my mail out the door in time, timedifference for once being on my side (of the ocean).

Thanks for the opportunity to all of us out there that love voice acting :)

Cheers,

Michael Wolf
